Paul Getty Museum - Quelques jours après avoir annoncé l’achat d’un portrait de Manet (voir la brève du 2/12/11), le Getty Museum a acquis aux enchères chez Sotheby’s Londres une remarquable sculpture allemande du début du XVIe siècle, en tilleul, figurant Saint Jean-Baptiste (ill.), pour 313 250 livres (frais inclus).

L’œuvre, presque grandeur nature, conserve encore une partie de sa polychromie d’origine. Par sa virtuosité, son style rappelle fortement celui de Veit Stoss, le célèbre sculpeur allemand actif à Nuremberg et Cracovie. Dans un…
