Un tableau de Luca Giordano pour Stockholm
6/10/22 - Acquisition - Stockholm, Nationalmuseum - Le musée de Stockholm conserve plusieurs peintures napolitaines du XVIIe siècle, notamment de Bernardo Cavallino et de José de Ribera, mais il lui manquait une toile de Luca Giordano ; cette lacune est désormais comblée avec l’acquisition d’un Saint Barthélemy peint vers 1660. Passé en vente chez Sotheby’s le 9 décembre 2021 à Londres, il a été offert par les Amis du musée.

Cette peinture illustre bien l’importance de Ribera pour Giordano qui s’imprégna de l’art du Caravage par son intermédiaire, du moins dans la première partie de sa carrière. L’exposition du musée…
