28/6/14 - Acquisition - Paris, Musée Cognacq-Jay - Nicolas Lavreince (ou Lafrensen) fut à Stockholm l’élève de son père, le miniaturiste Nicolas Lafrensen le vieux, avant de venir étudier à Paris entre 1769 et 1774. De retour en Suède, il devint miniaturiste à la cour de Gustave III, avant de retourner à Paris où il travailla jusqu’en 1791, se faisant une spécialité des aquarelles, gouaches et miniatures aux sujets galants, proches de Carmontelle et de Pierre-Antoine Baudoin. Il se fixa ensuite définitivement à Stockholm.
