Un fragment d'un grand modello de Vouet réapparaît à Drouot

8/11/06 – Découverte – Simon Vouet – Les Simon Vouet sont nombreux à refaire surface en cette fin de 2006. Le 17 septembre, à Detroit aux Etats-Unis, réapparaissait une Sainte Catherine d’Alexandrie (voir brève du 18/9/06). Aujourd’hui, à l’hôtel Drouot, un tableau passait en vente, comme anonyme, estimé 500 à 600 € (chez Drouot Estimations). Il a été adjugé 255.000 € sans les frais à un enchérisseur au téléphone.
Il s’agissait en réalité d’une étude de Simon Vouet (ill. 1), d’une remarquable qualité, préparatoire à la peinture murale L’Adoration de la Croix et des symboles de la Passion,…
