16/3/14 - Acquisition - Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum - Le Rijksmuseum s’est enrichi à la foire de Maastricht, auprès de la galerie Perrin, d’un buste de Canova sculpté par Adamo Tadolini. Le mode d’acquisition fera rêver plus d’un musée français par sa simplicité et sa rapidité : c’est un collectionneur privé anonyme qui l’a acheté pour l’offrir immédiatement à l’institution.
Les traits vieillis de Canova, représenté avec un réalisme sans concession, font penser que ce portrait, qui ressemble un peu au masque mortuaire du sculpteur, a pu être exécuté comme un hommage posthume de son élève. Adamo Tadolini fut en…
