Three new Italian modernist works for Dallas
26/5/24 - Acquisitions - Dallas Museum of Art - Admired on the stand of the Oscar Graf gallery at Tefaf 2023 (see article), Giuseppe Viner’s exceptional folding screen (ill. 1 to 3) has joined the European collections of the Dallas Museum of Art, adding a new artist, a pioneer of Tuscan divisionist painting, to the Italian modernist collection already conserved. It also joins two other recent acquisitions that we have not yet mentioned, paintings by Giacomo Balla (ill. 4) and Sexto Canegallo (ill. 5), both acquired from the Milan gallery Bottegantica at the previous Tefaf in 2022 [1]. Like Giuseppe Viner, these two artists were not previously in the collections.
