25/1/24 - Acquisition - Ghent, Museum voor Schone Kunsten - In 2023, the twentieth anniversary of the Flemish Masterpieces Decree was celebrated: promulgated on January 24, 2003, the Topstukkendecreet’s mission is to protect Flemish movable cultural heritage deemed "rare and indispensable". Equivalent to France’s "national treasure" classification, the Topstukkenlijst draws up a list of items that must be protected for their historical, archaeological, scientific or artistic importance, and which may not be taken out of the country.
