A landscape by Harriet Cany Peale for the Museum of American Art
25/8/25 - Acquisition - New Britain, Museum of American Art - The painting was included in the exhibition “Remember the Ladies [1]” devoted in 2010 to the women artists of the Hudson River School; a work by Harriet Cany Peale, painted in 1858 (ill. 1), it depicts the Catskill Mountains and was then shown alongside paintings by Julia Hart Beers, Evelina Mount, Susie Barstow, Eliza Greatorex, and Josephine Walters. It is now on view on the walls of the New Britain Museum of American Art, purchased from a private collector with the financial support of the Robert C. Vance Foundation.
