A new Lallemant for Rennes
30/7/26 - Acquisition - Rennes, Musée des Beaux-Arts - For two and a half years, we had been hoping for a happy conclusion for a magnificent painting by Georges Lallemant: King David Playing the Harp (ill. 1), which had captivated us at the stand of the Parisian dealer Franck Baulme at the Brussels BRAFA (see the article). He had already succeeded in rediscovering a riot scene by the artist, unveiled during Fine Arts Paris and subsequently acquired by the Musée du Grand Siècle (see the news item of 25/9/20), and one could only hope to see a second museum acquire King David. Thanks to the dynamism of Guillaume Kazerouni, well known to the readers of La Tribune de l’Art, this will soon be the case, and the painting will join a reference collection for seventeenth-century French painting,…
