Preemption of the Musée du Grand Siècle at the Artcurial sale
30/11/23 - Acquisition - Saint-Cloud, Musée du Grand Siècle - As well as being a fine arts museum, the future Musée du Grand Siècle also aims to help visitors understand all aspects of life in the 17th-century. The painting (ill. 1) that it has just preempted at Artcurial on 22 November 2023 for €91,840 (including costs) is both a fascinating work of high quality, and a historical testimony that will take its place in the section devoted to the society of the Grand Siècle and rural life.
