A foundation stone and a new acquisition for the Musée du Grand Siècle

5/10/23 - Acquisition - Saint-Cloud, Musée du Grand Siècle - The Musée du Grand Siècle project, which we have been following since its inception, has just reached a new milestone: the laying of the foundation stone (ill. 1). Although this is a symbolic event (the "foundation stone" will not be used, and will be displayed in the museum’s reception area), it nevertheless marks a turning point. Following the removal of asbestos from the building, the archaeological excavations and the demolition of the annex buildings - architectural warts built by the army in the 20th century - the real work was about to begin. This will lead to the opening of the museum and its accompanying research centre in 2026, in other words, tomorrow.
