Death of Georges Vigne

3/10/25 - Obituary - We learned, somewhat belatedly, of the death of Georges Vigne, who passed away on 15 September at his home in Le Vésinet. Aged 71, Georges Vigne was a conservateur général du patrimoine. After beginning his career at the Musée d’Orsay, where he contributed to the museum’s opening, he became director of the Musée Ingres in Montauban from 1992 to 2003. Ingres was one of the great passions of his life, and he became one of the foremost specialists on the artist, publishing numerous fundamental works, including the major monograph released by Citadelle & Mazenod, and the essential catalogue of the drawings kept at the Musée Ingres.
