The Apollo Gallery without its display cases: it’s time to celebrate!
The Louvre has staged an official inauguration that can safely be described as surreal. And with the Minister of Culture in attendance, no expense has been spared.
Nine months after the jewellery theft, the museum has celebrated the reopening of a gallery stripped of the works it once displayed. The same thing, only worse: does that really justify such a lavish inauguration, complete with a speech explaining that: “The collections and precious objects it housed have been removed in order to restore the painted and sculpted wall decorations to their full prominence.”?
