Jean Carriès enters the Wadsworth Atheneum
4/9/25 - Acquisition - Hartford, The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art - It was already thirty years ago: (the late) Louvre des Antiquaires brought to light Charles Auzoux, a jurist, collector close to many artists and especially to the great sculptors of his time [1]. Companion, executor and even adviser to widows, heirs and rights-holders, he occupied a unique position alongside all these great names and thus built up an exceptional collection, piously preserved by his descendants.
