A painting by Overbeck for the Metropolitan Museum
23/6/24 - Acquisition - New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Around the same time that the Louvre purchased a painting by the unknown Johann Richard Seel from the American gallery 19C (see article), the Metropolitan Museum acquired a picture by one of the most important German painters of the 19th century, one of the founders of the Nazarene movement, Johann Friedrich Overbeck, from the same dealer.
