11/8/06 – Acquisition - Londres, Tate Gallery – La Tate Gallery vient d’acheter, pour un million de livres [1], un portrait de l’écrivain Samuel Richardson (1689-1761), accompagné de sa seconde épouse et de leurs enfants.
Richardson connut rapidement une grande notoriété grâce à son roman épistolaire Pamela ou la Vertu récompensée, qui parut en 1740. Dès sa première année, celui-ci connut quatre rééditions.
