214/7/14 - Acquisition - Edimbourg, Scottish National Portrait Gallery - La Scottish National Portrait Gallery d’Edimbourg ne possédait pas d’œuvre de Cornelis Janssens (ou Johnson) van Ceulen ; ce manque est désormais comblé par l’effigie du jeune Lord Bruce, âgé de sept ans ; il est le fils de Thomas Bruce, premier comte d’Elgin, et d’Anne Chichester [1].
Le peintre est comme toujours attentif aux détails vestimentaires et décrit avec précision l’habit de soie rose délicatement orné de fils d’argent et de rubans bleus. Le garçon est représenté en buste et se tient derrière…
