24/10/16 - Acquisition - Washington, National Gallery of Art - Le Rhin est allé jusqu’à Washington, il serpente dans un paysage d’Herman Saftleven acheté par la National Gallery of Art à la galerie Claude Vittet. La composition est séduisante, rythmée en profondeur par trois massifs montagneux à gauche, tandis que le regard suit le fleuve à droite qui s’enfonce vers l’horizon ; la perspective atmosphérique, qui passe du brun au vert puis à différentes nuances de bleu, confère une atmosphère presque féerique à la vue. La vie quotidienne anime pourtant cette nature, de petits personnages parcourent…
