Un fonds d’archives Barye acquis par l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art

25/2/19 - Acquisition - Paris, Institut national d’histoire de l’art - Il y a quelques mois, l’Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art s’est enrichi, auprès de la galerie Michel Descours à Lyon, d’un ensemble très important d’archives provenant du sculpteur Antoine-Louis Barye. Ce fonds comporte en tout 355 documents dont 191 lettres manuscrites et 24 photographies.

La correspondance va de la fin des années 1820 à 1874, un an avant sa mort. Elle provient de très nombreux artistes amis de Barye, mais aussi d’écrivains, de critiques, de personnalités politiques et de hauts fonctionnaires. L’une des lettres…
