A Donatello for the Bargello

31/12/23- Acquisition - Florence, Museo Nazionale del Bargello - It is very rare to find works by Donatello in private hands. In Italy, a Madonna and Child declared to be of "national cultural importance" in 2011 could not leave the country. Put up for sale by its owner in 2021, it was finally purchased by the Ministry of Culture for the Bargello Museum in Florence. It can now be seen in the room dedicated to the Florentine sculptor, which is due to be reorganised in 2024.
