Two paintings by Angelica Kauffmann for the Detroit Institute of Art

18/10/23 - Acquisition - Detroit Institute of Art - This acquisition had escaped us: in 2022 the Detroit Institute of Art chose to purchase, from a private collector, a double family portrait painted by Angelica Kauffamnn, of which it had no work until then. It is a perfectly balanced diptych: on one side, Joseph May is represented with his three sons, and on the other, Mary May poses with her three daughters.
