19/10/05 - Appel au mécénat - Paris, Musée du Louvre - Le Ministère de la Culture publie dans le Journal Officiel d’aujourd’hui un appel au mécénat pour l’acquisition du Portrait de Ferdinand d’Orléans par Ingres. Le fils aîné de Louis-Philippe, qui portait l’espoir dynastique, commanda son portrait à Ingres en 1840, bien contre la volonté de celui-ci qui voulait se consacrer uniquement à la peinture d’histoire. Ne pouvant rien refuser au duc d’Orléans, pour qui il venait de peindre Antiochus et Stratonice et qui lui avait acheté Oedipe et le Sphinx, Ingres dut s’exécuter. Il en résulta…
