26/4/25 - Fundraising - Orléans, Musée des Beaux-Arts - The House Where Joan of Arc Was Born Before Its Restoration, with Jean-Baptiste Jollois and Charles Pensée by Jean-Antoine Laurent (ill. 1), presented by the Talabardon & Gautier gallery in their November exhibition and at Tefaf, is a painting that was destined to become part of the Orléans collections for many reasons. Judge for yourself:
– It is an eminently romantic work, both in terms of its date, 1819, the year of the Salon of the Raft of the Medusa, and its subject matter, which is closely linked to French history, and its treatment, a dramatic scene with the two protagonists in shadow, as if they were waiting to see the Maiden pass through the door of her birthplace; one of the strengths of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Orléans…
