A painting by Karin Bergöö Larsson bought by Washington
3/9/24 - Acquisition - Washington, National Gallery of Art - A black man painted by a woman. This might as well be the Holy Grail for an American museum, especially one that now swears by acquiring works by women artists or those representing black people. The National Gallery in Washington has just acquired such a painting, Portrait of Pierre Louis Alexandre by Swedish artist Karin Bergöö Larsson, from Ben Elwes Fine Arts in London.
