11/1/08– Acquisition – Francfort, Städel Museum – Ce musée allemand vient d’acquérir à la fin de l’année 2007, auprès d’une collection particulière, une toile de Dirk van Baburen représentant un Jeune homme chantant (ill. ).
Datée de 1622, la toile a été peinte après le retour en 1620 de Baburen à Utrecht, sa ville natale. Après une première formation auprès de Paulus Moreelse, Baburen passa plusieurs années à Rome où il fut marqué de manière profonde par les œuvres de Caravage et exécuta de nombreuses peintures religieuses, dont une chapelle à San Pietro in Montorio.
