A Bolognese painting for Beauvais
9/12/24 - Acquisition - Beauvais, Musée départemental de l’Oise - The Musée départemental de l’Oise (now known by the rather inelegant acronym Mudo) has a collection of 17th- and 18th-century Italian paintings, much of which was built up in the second half of the 20th century thanks to war damage, a large part of the collection having disappeared during the bombardments of June 1940. Since then, this acquisition policy has come to a halt, but last year the museum purchased a sketch by Francesco Solimena (see news item of 21/12/23). A new Italian work has just been purchased from the Amiens dealer Stéphane Grodée, confirming that this was not an isolated case, and that Italy is now once again a focus that the museum wishes to develop.
