23/5/24 - Acquisition - Paris, Musée de Cluny - Displayed alongside illustrious manuscripts in a showcase between the Aix Annunciation and the Dreux Budé Triptych reconstructed for the exhibition "The Arts in France during the times of Charles VII" (see article), this delicate Lady of Sorrows (ill. 1) is not the most spectacular piece in the exhibition where it is being unveiled for the first time to visitors to the Musée de Cluny. Recently acquired from the English dealer Sam Fogg, it has naturally taken its place alongside the singular Hours of René of Anjou, which came from the Bibliothèque nationale to…
