Quelques chiffres suffisent à montrer l’importance de cette donation : six peintures, dix-sept esquisses à l’huile, huit aquarelles et dix-neuf dessins de Constable (ill. 1 et 2) ; trois peintures et dix-sept aquarelles de Turner (ill. 3 et 4) ; trois peintures et quinze dessins de Gainsborough (ill. 5), ainsi que des œuvres de Thomas…
