3/7/17 - Acquisition - Stockholm, Nationalmuseum - Peintre germano-danois, Louis Gurlitt (1812-1897) fut un temps évincé de l’histoire de l’art du Danemark, bien qu’il fût une figure majeure de son âge d’or. Son tort est d’avoir choisi le camp de l’Allemagne lors des conflits de 1848 et 1864. Il naquit en effet à Alton, à l’ouest de Hambourg, qui appartenait à la couronne danoise avant de devenir prussienne. En 1864, la guerre des duchés opposa la Prusse et l’Autriche au Danemark pour la possession des duchés de Slesvig, de Holstein et de Lauenburg, sur lesquels régnait le roi de Danemark.
