Candlelight dinner in The Hague
18/6/25 - Acquisition - The Hague, Mauritshuis - Born in Utrecht in 1566, Joachim Wtewael left for France in the late 1580s, where he was influenced by the School of Fontainebleau. He then spent time in Italy before returning to his native city in 1592 and became, alongside Abraham Bloemaert, one of the leading representatives of Mannerism, while the movement was developing in parallel in Haarlem with Karel van Mander, Hendrick Goltzius and Cornelis van Haarlem, under the influence of Bartolomeus Spranger.
