Research announcement: In the backstages of France’s latest coronation

In spring 2025, the Mobilier national will present an exhibition at the Galerie des Gobelins (Paris), dedicated to the coronation of Charles X, to mark the bicentenary of this last French coronation. Organized by the Ministry of the King’s Household, including the Menus-Plaisirs and the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, forerunners of the Mobilier National, as well as by the city’s civil and religious authorities, the coronation took place in Reims on May 29, 1825.

Numerous decorative elements preserved in the collections of the Mobilier national will be presented, as well as objects from public and private collections identified during research carried out over several years.
