Copenhagen is enriched by a painting by Clara Peeters
4/3/25 - Acquisition - Copenhague, Statens Museum for Kunst - One reads - sometimes - very admirable notices even in the sales catalogues and that that Koller had devoted to the Still Life with a Peregrine Falcon by Clara Peeters (ill. 1) sold in Zurich on 20 September 2024 is thus an example for both ornithologists and art historians. This text was appreciated as far away as Copenhagen, where the Statens Museum for Kunst recently announced the acquisition of this painting, which had then sold for 500,000 Swiss francs, a sum corresponding to its high estimate. The great Danish museum therefore had to pay the equivalent of €655,663 for this original composition, which contrasts with the bouquets of flowers or tasty cheeses that have made the reputation of this specialist in still lifes.
