Both reliefs by Zadkine saved
2/12/25 - Acquisitions - Paris, Musée Zadkine - While one could — legitimately — fear the worst for the two large reliefs by Ossip Zadkine, sold by Saint-Louis de Gonzague (which has, to say the least, a singular way of valuing its heritage), it is today only right to acknowledge the commitment shown by the Musée Zadkine and Paris Musées, with the support of the Ministry of Culture. We mentioned last Monday (see the news item of 24/11/25) this sad and banal affair in which an educational establishment, proud of welcoming the Parisian elite, did not hesitate to sell off without scruple some outstanding works — still kept on site in the spring, as shown by the photographic campaign commissioned by Paris Musées (ill. 1 and 2) — instead of enhancing them or even entrusting them to the…
