16/8/26 – Restoration – Todi, chiesa di Santa Maria della Consolazione – On the outskirts of Todi, in Umbria, stands a magnificent centrally planned church, Santa Maria della Consolazione [1] (ill. 1). Built from 1508 onward, perhaps to designs by Bramante, although this remains a matter of debate, it saw several architects succeed one another. The result is nonetheless a miracle of balance: it is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of the Italian Renaissance.
