23/1/14 - Acquisition - Paris, Musée du Louvre - Le Musée du Louvre vient de s’enrichir d’un très beau tableau italien du XVIIe siècle (ill. 1). Une information insolite car cela faisait de très nombreuses années que ce n’était pas arrivé. Il ne s’agit bien sûr pas d’un achat, le musée parisien ayant depuis longtemps abandonné toute velléité d’enrichir sa collection dans ce domaine, on ne sait pas très bien pourquoi, mais d’une dation.

Né et formé dans le Piémont, Giovanni Battista Beinaschi se rendit ensuite à Rome. Il y subit l’influence de Lanfranco avant de se rendre à Naples où il resta huit ans, de 1664 à…
