Trois Bouguereau pour Tokyo

1/7/16 - Acquisitions - Tokyo, Musée National d’Art Occidental - Il y a, aussi, des musées d’art occidental au Japon, et ceux-ci acquièrent des œuvres. C’est ainsi que le Musée National d’Art Occidental de Tokyo a récemment acquis, auprès de la galerie Aaron à Paris, trois peintures décoratives peintes par William Bouguereau pour le décor de l’hôtel Custine, rue de la Rochefoucauld à Paris, commandé par le banquier Jean-François Bartholoni à François-Édouard Picot qui transmit la commande à son élève comme il devait le faire quelques années plus tard pour une chapelle de l’église Sainte-Clotilde. Nous en avions parlé dans la recension de la TEFAF 2014 où elles avaient été exposées (voir notre article).
