22/6/14 - Deaccessioning - Delaware Art Museum - Et en plus, le tableau a été bradé. Afin d’éponger ses dettes, le Delaware Museum of Art a vendu (voir la brève du 31/3/14) une œuvre phare de sa collection préraphaélite. Entrée au musée en 1947, Isabelle et le pot de basilic de William Holman Hunt illustre un poème de John Keats (1818) qui puise lui-même son sujet chez Boccace. Isabella a caché dans un pot de basilic la tête de son amant Lorenzo, tué par ses frères. Une première version plus grande est conservée au Laing Art Gallery de Newcastle upon Tyne.
