1/6/06 – Acquisition – Washington, National Gallery of Art – A la vente Christie’s Paris du 24 juin 2004, comme dans l’exposition The Arts of France from François Ier to Napoléon chez Wildenstein à l’automne dernier (voir l’article sur ce site), l’Autoportrait de Nicolas de Largillière de 1707 (ill. ) s’imposait avec évidence comme un chef-d’œuvre, maniant à la fois l’apparat et la simplicité de la présentation, l’un des plus beaux et des plus importants portraits de son époque. Il vient de rentrer dans les collections de la National Gallery de Washington qui pourtant possédait…
