As part of the preservation and restoration of Saint-Martin Church in Vendhuile, we are seeking all types of documents relating to the village, and in particular photographs of the reconstruction work, the fresco and the Stations of the Cross, as well as images of the church before its destruction in 1917, and during and after its reconstruction in 1928.

The church is in the Art Deco style and has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1994.

The talented artist Valentine Reyre, a pupil of Georges Desvallières and co-founder of ‘L’Arche pour la renaissance de l’Art sacré’, created the impressive central fresco, the Stations of the Cross and the designs for the stained-glass windows. Jean Hebert-Stevens was the master glassmaker. The architect was Jacques Droz.

We are also seeking anyone who might be able to help us showcase these works, promote their cultural potential and seek sponsorship to support the small village of Vendhuile with the costs associated with this major restoration project.
