As curator emeritus, my research concerns Alfred Gouverneur (Saint-Denis, 1884- La Roche-sur-Yon, 1961). The author of a number of portrait charges (watercolour, gouache) painted during the First World War, he went on to specialise in venison, animals and horse racing.
In order to retrace the career of this excellent draughtsman, whose family had close links with the Duc d’Aumale and Chantilly, I would be grateful if anyone with information about his artistic training and/or production would make themselves known.
With a view to compiling a catalogue of his work, I would be grateful if anyone in possession of works by this artist or documents relating to him could contact me.
