11/3/13 - Acquisition - Dallas, Museum of Art - Charles Baudelaire n’aimait pas François-Auguste Biard qu’il exécuta en quelques lignes dans sa recension du Salon de 1846. Nouvelle preuve que le grand poète n’était qu’un médiocre critique. Car Biard fut un artiste aux multiples talents, un peintre voyageur qui, dans certains de ses tableaux, comme la Vue de l’océan Glacial, pêche au morse par des Groënlandais du Musée-château de Dieppe ou Magdalena Bay, vue prise de la presqu’île des Tombeaux, au nord du Spitzberg, touche au sublime au sens poétique du terme.
