27/01/15 - Acquisition - San Francisco, Fine Arts Museum Legion of Honor - Sa mère fut portraiturée par David, lui par Delacroix. Le jeune Charles de Verninac était proche du peintre romantique qui était aussi son oncle et avec lequel il n’avait que cinq ans de différence. Le musée de San Francisco a récemment acheté son portrait auprès d’un collectionneur privé par l’intermédiaire de Thomas Gibson Fine Art. Heureux hasard, le tableau avait déjà été exposé au musée, confié en dépôt par son propriétaire entre 1947 et 1950.
