30/4/04 – Découvertes – Botticelli – Contrairement aux musées anglo-saxons qui accueillent souvent des œuvres de collections privées en dépôt à long terme, ceux du Sud de l’Europe ont été très longtemps réticents à cette pratique. La situation est en train d’évoluer en Espagne [1] puisque le Musée du Prado vient d’accrocher dans ses salles, pour un an au moins, le Portrait de Michele Marullo Tarcaniota par Botticelli (ill. 1) [2] appartenant aux héritiers Cambó.
Francisco Cambó est le plus grand collectionneur espagnol d’art ancien du début du XX e siècle. En 1941, il a donné plusieurs tableaux au Prado, constituant un fond…
