2/12/16 - Acquisition - Paris, Petit Palais - Les objets disposés sur la toile forment indirectement un autoportrait. Ce tableau de Jean-François Gigoux a été acheté par le Petit Palais à la Galerie Talabardon et Gautier [1], il rejoint au musée un autre portrait du peintre plus facilement identifiable, sculpté par Dalou.
Sur un fauteuil en cuir, rutilant, disposé près d’une cheminée en marbre, ont été jetés pêle-mêle un chapeau haut de forme, des gants et une canne, qui révèlent une vie bourgeoise et mondaine, mais aussi des cahiers de croquis et des cartons à dessins qui sont ceux d’un artiste et d’un collectionneur.…
