Deux portraits de Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen acquis par le Catharijneconvent d’Utrecht

9/8/12 – Acquisition – Utrecht, Museum Catherijneconvent – Né à Londres de parents flamands ou hollandais (les sources divergent sur ce point), sans doute formé en Hollande avant de revenir s’installer en Angleterre vers 1618, le portraitiste Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen quitta ce pays en 1643 pour s’installer à Amsterdam puis à Utrecht où il mourut. Considéré comme un peintre anglais, son art est essentiellement marqué par la Flandres, notamment par Van Dyck.
