26/3/13 - Acquisition - Barnard Castle, The Bowes Museum - Un château entre dans un autre : le Bowes Museum a reçu par dation (acceptance in lieu) une toile de Turner qui représente le Lowther Castle apparaissant dans la lumière dorée du soir, au fond d’un paysage vallonné. Le peintre le visita en 1808 alors qu’il était inachevé, l’édifice ayant été construit entre 1806 et 1814 par Robert Smirke pour William Lowther, comte de Lonsdale.
