3/5/12 - Acquisition - New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art - Le Metropolitan Museum a reçu par legs un tableau de Francesco Maffei, que nous n’avions pas signalé dans la brève du 24 avril [1] et qui a rejoint les cimaises du musée en 2012 (ill.). Intitulée Agar et l’Ange et datée de 1657 environ, il s’agit d’une œuvre tardive réalisée lorsque l’artiste quitta Vicence pour Padoue où il mourut en 1660. Comme le suggère la notice du Met, qui reprend elle-même un article de Paola Rossi [2], le style de l’œuvre est en effet assez proche de celui de la Visitation, peinte en 1657 pour le…
