23/1/14 - Acquisition - Oxford, Ashmolean Museum - L’Ashmolean Museum vient de recevoir en dation (Acceptance in Lieu) une peinture inédite de Francesco Guardi intitulée Venise : la Fondamenta Nuove avec la lagune et l’île San Michele et réalisée en 1758. Une subvention de l’Art Fund, ainsi que diverses contributions, notamment du Sir Denis Mahon Charitable Trust ont permis de compenser la différence de valeur du tableau avec le montant de l’impôt à payer.

L’œuvre, l’une des premières vues de la lagune par Guardi, était probablement destinée aux Anglais…
