Selon une tradition maintenant bien établie, les expositions monographiques tirées du département des Arts Graphiques du Louvre sont accompagnées par un petit livre de la collection Cabinets des dessins. Bien illustrés, d’un coût modique, ils ne remplacent pas un vrai catalogue. Dans le cas de Ludovico Carracci, cependant, il n’était pas besoin d’un catalogue d’exposition, puisque Catherine Loisel publie parallèlement l’Inventaire de tous les dessins des Carracci conservés par le Louvre.
