Le Delaware Art Museum achète un tableau de Fairfax Murray

25/11/21 - Acquisition - Wilmington, Delaware Art Museum - Parce que les différentes peintures qui scandaient les lambris de la pièce manquaient d’unité stylistique, William Morris les fit refaire. C’est lui qui supervisa le décor de la «salle à manger verte» du South Kensington Museum devenu depuis le Victoria & Albert Museum (ill. 1). La commande fut passée en 1866 à son entreprise, Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co, qu’il avait créée en 1861 avec d’autres artistes, afin de réaliser aussi bien des décorations murales que des vitraux, des sculptures ou des textiles…
